Lower back tattoos

Lower back tattoos make a statement that is subtle and sensual which spring to life when you bare some skin with the right dress. Usually just above the waist, a peek of a tattoo designed like a colourful butterfly or bold Celtic design can be quite enticing and sexy. It’s probably because the lower back gives you enough room to express yourself and you can choose to flaunt it when you wish. With the right lower back tattoo design you can definitely make a point and with panache of a different sort. Isn’t that something you would like?

Of course the design you get is equally important and with the Internet you can browse through a selection of styles, colours, techniques and size. Each of these lower back tattoo designs can be designed to meet your need, there are tattoo artists that can build on an idea you might have. Take for example, a “rose with thorns” or a “colourful butterfly” is quite popular as lower back tattoo designs. You will find variations of these designs but for those that choose to stand out, the design ideas are just a beginning.

Tribal tattoo designs are also quite popular with the ladies, and always display an artistic touch. If you are keen on getting a tribal lower back tattoo design you can always check the thousands of templates that are available on the Internet or at your local tattoo shop.

Getting a lower back tattoo is a perfect choice, if you want a tattoo that only a few would ever see. You can choose to have a tattoo design that is small yet attractive. Some of the options that you have are Chinese symbols, funky scripts, tailbone tattoo design variations and even mystical designs like a fairy, mermaid, etc.

After you have decided on the lower back tattoo design, all you need to worry about is the placement. You can also have two or more tattoo designs to form a shape or create a unique balance with these colors and be the envy of a few that might have had a quick glance at your exquisite tattoo artwork.

Get a Star Tattoo Designs - Meanings of Shooting Star, Nautical Star Tattoos

Friday, October 30, 2009

There are many different part of the body that you can tattoo the stars depend on your taste. I've seen star tattoo designs all over the places like neck, face, chest, arm, rib cage, lower belly, ankle, foot and most popular one is the wrist or forearm. Also, you can just design your own star, it doesn't have to have any meaning, just special for you.

Shooting stars

Shooting star tattoos usually associate with a short moment in time that left such a long lasting impression on you. Whether it's a short romance, a special event, a person, or something that happened to you that have may change your life. Everyone has that unforgetable moment which has a deep meaning to their life so the shooting star tattoo designs could fit very well.

Nautical stars

Way before the modern navigation technology, sailors mostly use the star to navigate directions, usually by looking at the North Star. They often have the nautical star tattoos to remind them that the stars will keep them safe and guide them to the right direction. For that reason, the nautical star is considering a symbol of guidance and protection. Some may say it also mean you can be whatever you want to be and create your own destiny.

Moon stars

Just as what they sound like, moon star tattoos are combination of moon and star tattoos, which represent the sky at night. Moon star tattoo doesn't have any symbolic meaning but just simply a beautiful design especially if you add more fairy look or tribal style to it.

Pentagram

Pentagram tattoo is a five point star tattoo which has been used by many religious and spiritual practice throughout history. As one of the oldest symbol in the world, the pentagram symbolizes a protection against all evil. It also represent 5 element on earth which is light, air, wind, fire and water which all are part of our lives.

Girls also buy tattoos to express their individuality. Typically this is to convey a message about who they are and what they believe in. An extension of this theme is choosing tattoos that represent an association with a group. Tribal tattoos amongst women in the South Pacific are a good example of this. Tattoos that represent organisations that girls associate with are relatively new but are growing. Associating with Greenpeace to promote an affinity with animals might be an example of this.

1. Star Tattoos.

Stars have been around forever and have a strong history attached to them. Nautilus stars were worn early on by sailors and continue to have strong military ties. But, they also have strong punk rock ties, as well as other groups (such as MMA fighters). This is in part due to their universal message, signifying strength and direction. They are also used to signify specific important individuals in peoples lives. Stars are worn by both men and women and are a great, solid choice for getting inked with.

2. Dragon tattoos.

Dragon tats are just cool designs that never seem to get old. This is in part due to their strong design qualities. They really pop out and can be very elaborate. Dragons also signify strength and power and can be applied to many different aspects in one's life. Both men and women get dragons, and perhaps surprisingly they really pop out on women and have been seen both as strong yet very sexy.

3. Animal tattoos.

Coming in a perhaps surprising third, are animal tattoos. This is broad and general but that's part of the point. Some of the best looking tattoos have been of animals. Be it eagles, tigers, or dolphins, animal tats can be either visually stunning or very simple and yet they always work extremely well for tattoos. The representation aspect is also very strong, as it can relate to certain qualities that the animals possess, or it can be more personal such as one's pet who has passed.

Tattoo Arm Designs

Friday, October 16, 2009

Arms are the most frequently tattooed part of the body. This common practice and choice has its roots both in Eastern and Western traditions and makes sense when you consider that our arms are very visible parts of our body and naturally lend themselves to being viewed in most situations.

Most frequently, we see that tattoo arm designs fall into two major categories, Japanese and American Traditional. These will frequently be naval or sailing tattoos, kitch Americana such as pin-up girls from the 40's and 50's style, flags, etc.. They are generally executed within a few basic styles, including different locations on the arm, different sizes, shapes and of course designs.

One popular style becoming more common as tattooing increases in popularity is the SLEEVE TATTOO. These can be a full sleeve which will cover the entire arm, a half sleeve which starts at the shoulder and extends to the forearm, and the quarter sleeve, or quarter arm tattoo which generally goes from the wrist to about the middle of the forearm.

The idea is that the tattoo is dense enough so that no bare skin is evident and the appearance is as if you were wearing an article. You can even find some tattoo 'sleeves" to actually wear that way on e-Bay though I don't recall seeing anyone wearing one myself J.

Another popular pattern for the sleeve is floral, and as you expect generally women will favor this approach. But that isn't written in stone by any means and with the right design a floral pattern will work excellently with men as well.

Your choice is your own, of course, but taking into consideration your build type in general and the size of your arms in relation to the rest of your body is something that would be wise to consider before applying the ink.

Another style you may want to consider is the WRIST TATTOO.

Wrist tattoos are also gaining in popularity, especially with women who enjoy the "bracelet" designs of Japanese, Amerind or Polynesian origin to name just a few. Many of these tattoo arm designs are frequently of the "Tribal" variety and have special meanings to their owners and are believed by many to have some charm effect for them.

Men frequently will choose these tribal patterns because of their starkness and bold coloration. Be sure to consider the cultural and stylistic aspects of any tattoo arm design you choose. Many tribal designs have been "modernized" for contemporary tattoo art and are quite extraordinary.

Other wrist tattoos have designed flame bracelets and the flames will extend various distances up towards the forearm from the wrist area. This style tends to be more associated with the "biker" look and relates well to contemporary Harley Davidson flame paint jobs, to name just one association.

Once you decide on your design for any of these styles, you will need to locate a reputable, experienced and hopefully talented artist to entrust your precious skin to. Be prepared to pay for these because they require a lot of work and time.

A full sleeve tattoo for example can take 20 hours of work and that means repeated visits (your body and the artist can only take so much at one time). In practical terms, giving yourself time to heal between sessions and considering the availability schedule of your artist, a complete tattoo arm design could take 4 to 6 months and cost as much as $2000 (or more!).

Remember! This tat will be with you from now on. Approach it with respect and good judgment. Don't look for "bargains." Know who you are working with. Do your homework, and then be proud of the beautiful work of art you are displaying.

Butterfly Tattoo Art - A Symbol of Life

Butterfly tattoo art is becoming one of the most popular and requested tattoo designs, especially among women. More than 50% of the female "tattoo population" have some type of butterfly design, whether it be on their back, ankle, or chest. And for a good reason. Butterflies are unmatched in their intrinsic yet peculiar designs and beauty.

There are many speculated reasons for this surge of popularity, and many believe butterflies are just beautiful in general, and that is reason enough. However, there are others who look deeper into the issue. They believe there is strong connection or symbolism behind the butterfly.

To most cultures, a butterfly is symbolic of starting anew, or birth of new life. There are also many cultures who symbolize the butterfly as the instability and impermanence of earthly life. The life of a butterfly is very unstable, as it starts it's life as a grotesque catipillar and turns into a beautiful butterfly. This process has captivated the ancient cultures, as they believed this process was very similar of one's journey from an earthly body to a heavenly one. Early Greek cultures also used butterfly wings to symbolize the human soul or pysche.

Whatever the reason is, butterfly tattoo art is growing in popularity. Some find that finding the right butterfly tattoo design is overwhelming, due to the immense amount of variety available. These designs gain root from each species of butterfly: Plum Judy, Spicebush Swallowtail, Lime Butterfly, Small White, Green-veined White, Common Jezebel, Karner Blue, Xerces Blue, Painted Lady or Cosmopolite, Lange's Metalmark Butterfly, Common Yellow Swallowtail, and the ever famous Monarch butterfly. Although one doesn't need to know the individual species in order to design their tattoo, it might help to pick a few of your favorite types so the tattoo artist can best fit your wants and needs.

Flower Tattoos

Sunday, October 11, 2009

For some strange reasons, I like designing flower tattoos more than others. Flower tattoos are mostly favored by women, they are like clothes accessories except that you can wear your tattoo to bed. It’s like having a piece of art with you all the time. I find women with tattoos more appealing, sexier, more feminine and more powerful. I had a teacher who had a flower tattoo near her ankle, and believe it or not, that alone was enough to discipline the students.

The image of a tattoo can be so captivating that it stirs up all our senses. You can have a Rose tattoo with a barbed wire around it and still look very good. It’s Ying and Yang, loving and sweet but authoritative and intimidating. But if you are intending to ink a flower tattoo on your body, it’s best to find out the meaning of the flower and what you want it to represent. You can then combine different images to give contrasting impressions of your tattoos.
